Description

Try this once and you will never wanna go back to the one from the store. It’s an authentic version of Chinese condiment, mostly used in Cantonese cuisine. Delicious and versatile – it works as a dipping sauce, as a glaze and marinade, or a sauce for stir fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tbsp black bean sauce
  • 2 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp homemade Chinese five-spice

Instructions

  1. It’s incredibly easy. Just combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well (or in a blender and mix until smooth). You can add some sriracha if you want it spicy.
  2. Store hoisin sauce in an airtight jar or bottle in the fridge for up to a month.

Notes

Use sriracha or some chili for an extra kick.
