Description

Chinese five spice powder is a very commonly used ingredient in Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 3 star anise
  • 1/2 tbsp cloves
  • 1 tsp Sichuan pepper

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a spice grinder and grind until smooth.
  2. You can also use mortar and pestle. It takes more time and effort, but I love the feeling and amazing smell.
  3. Store in a sealed jar.

Notes

Chinese five spice goes well with lamb and pork.
